“. . . from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.’ And he said, ’This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.” (Matthew 19:4-6)
Our desire is to provide a Biblical foundation for a couple desiring to build a strong, Christ-centered marriage and family. We want to help a couple create a marriage that gives glory to God, therefore, our process for marriage includes participation in Pre-Marriage Mentoring and Christian counseling by a pastor of Friends Church.
- Couples desiring to be married by a Friends Church pastor, either on-site or off, must be regular attenders or members of Friends Church, must agree with and sign the Pre-Marriage Agreement and must meet with a Friends Church Pastor.
- Couples must complete an application, be in agreement with Friends Church Faith and Practice and participate in Pre-Marriage Mentoring, which may include one or all of the following: attend the group class, 1+1=1 Pre-Marriage, for 13 weeks, participate in a curriculum study, or work with the officiating pastor regularly. The officiating pastor will determine the type of Pre-Marriage Mentoring that is required for the couple to be married at Friends Church.
- Couples must meet with the officiating pastor for personal counseling up to 4 hours approximately three months before the wedding date.
