Below are some of the events held in 2008 that we enjoyed on our church campus.

Using a selection of popular Christmas Carols that convey the reason for the season, we want to reach out to the community and invite them to celebrate with us the birth of Christ. Won't you consider joining us in serenading those who may not know our Lord but will listen to His message in the form of a carol? If you have sung in a choir before, please consider being part of this outreach effort. Adults, teens, and preteens are encouraged to join this ministry to the community. There will be two practices on Wednesday night followed by several opportunities to sing carols in the community.

[Top]Dr. Ed Smith, the founder of the Theophostic Prayer Ministry is offering a workshop at Willoughby Hills Friends Church on June 26 – 28, 2008. Dr. Smith is traveling throughout the U.S.A. and WHFC is his first stop. Here is a quote from his website explaining this ministry:
|
"Theo (God) Phostic (light) is a ministry of prayer that is Christ centered and God reliant for its direction and outcome. Simply stated, it is encouraging a person to discover and expose what he believes that is a falsehood; and then encouraging him to have an encounter with Jesus Christ through prayer, thus allowing the Lord to reveal His truth to the wounded person's heart and mind. It is not about advice giving, diagnosing problems, or sharing opinions or insight. It is about allowing a person to have a personal encounter with the Lord Jesus in the midst of the person's emotional pain. I (Ed Smith) understand that it is the Holy Spirit that lead us into all truth and that it is He that intercedes for us in prayer to the Father. However, I also believe that we can have a personal relationship with the person of Jesus. The Apostle desired to "know Him" (Phil. 3:10) and experience Him; "Him" being the person of Jesus. " |

For three days only, on March 14-16, you are invited to step back in time and re-live the last few days and hours of Jesus, as the Creative Arts Department of Willoughby Hills Friends Church presents a dramatic musical entitled "Worthy is the Lamb".
Scenes include the city of Jerusalem, where you will observe bustling market activity, Jesus´ confrontation with crooked money changers in the temple, and a blind man joyfully receiving his sight! Following a first-hand testimony from the infamous "woman at the well", Matthew- one of Jesus´ four closest disciples- recalls his final hours with Jesus. As his memories unfold, the scenes build in intensity from the Last Supper and Garden of Gethsemane to the inevitable Crucifixion- and finally to Christ"s Resurrection, which concludes with an electrifying musical celebration! Much of the passionate and personal music in this work is presented by the characters themselves, interspersed with choir numbers- and all is staged in period costume.
"Worthy is the Lamb" will be offered to the community on Friday, March 14, at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, March 15, at 7:00 p.m., and Sunday, March 16, at 6:00 p.m. Please note that the crucifixion of Jesus will be enacted and may not be suitable for young children. Child care will be available at no cost on Sunday evening, March 16. All presentations are free of charge and open to everyone!
Note: If you are interested in being part of this or a future musical, contact Scott or Lynn Pierce.
