Biographies of the Youth Team

God has blessed Pastor Jim Davis, the Youth Pastor, with a loving and dedicated youth team who looks forward to getting to know you. Pastor Jim has been in Youth Ministry for twenty four years and has served as WHFC pastor of teens since 1986--twenty two years. Here the youth teams who serve with Pastor Jim share a little about themselves and their families so you can get to know them.

Tami Davis

Tami is married to Pastor Jim Davis, and they have four children, Jonathan (15), Jordan (12), Jeremy (10), and Julian (6). She has been on the Youth Team for twenty years and works with the Junior High. She co-leads the JH Girls Sunday School class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I felt a clear calling by God to do Youth Ministry in 1988 with no knowledge that I would be marrying the youth pastor of my church in 1989. I grew up as an active member of WHFC Youth Ministry and can relate to teens growing up in the church. God has given me a love, compassion and desire to reach teenagers for Jesus Christ."

Tim Halverstadt

Tim is new to the Youth Team; he joined us at the beginning of August! He works with the Junior High Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I chose to work with the teens because I believe that without the Godly influence that the adult men youth leaders had on my life, I probably would not have the relationship I have with Christ today. I feel called to pass this love on to the next generation of Christ followers. "

Di Hamman

Di is married to Tim Hamman, and they have two boys, Chaz (21) and Cameron (11). She has been on the Youth Team for ten years and works with the Senior High. She co-leads the Eleventh Grade Sunday School class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I have a passion for Senior High teens and serve in the Youth Ministries because God told me to do so. "

Rick Suba

Rick is married to Tracy Suba, and they have four children; Rachel (16), Josh (15), Zach (10), and Sarah (7). He has been on the Youth Team for sixteen years and works with the Senior High. He co-leads the 10th Grade Sunday School class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I desire to work with teens because I love being around their honesty, care-free energy, and willingness to have fun! God has given me this desire to reach out to teens and use my past failures and successes to encourage them that even though times can get rough, God still loves them and wants a relationship with them. "

Tracy Suba

Tracy is married to Rick Suba and they have four children; Rachel (16), Josh (15), Zach (10), and Sarah (7). She has been on the Youth Team for six years and works with the Senior High. She co-leads the Tenth Grade Sunday School class, and is involved with monthly activities and special events.

" I know how much it helped me, as a teen, to have other adults living a Godly life. I want to reinforce what parents are telling their teens and to be a Godly example and a friend."

Greg Suba

Greg is married to Caroline Suba, and they have four children, Steve (25), Jessica (14), John (12), Joey (9). He has been on the Youth Team for nineteen years and works with the Senior High. He co-leads the 11th Grade Sunday School class and is involved with special events.

"I just feel called to work with the Senior High. I am also a teacher at the senior high level at Maple Heights High School. I feel that I have a lot I can share and help a senior high student with. "

Lois Ann Suba

Lois Ann is married to Mike Suba, and they have four children; Amy (Bob) Landeg (22), Dan (19), Tim (18), and Michael (12). She has been on the Youth Team for twenty years, and she co-leads the College and Career Sunday School class. She is also involved with monthly activities and special events.

"I work with young people first and foremost because I am called. Because I am called, I have a passion to see young people see what a real Jesus-relationship looks like. I love being an Encourager, Cheerleader and Challenger. "

Mike Suba

Mike is married to Lois Ann Suba, they have four children; Amy (husband Bob) Landeg (22), Dan (19), Tim (18), and Michael (12). He has been on the Youth Team for twenty eight years and works with the Junior High. He co-leads the College and Career Sunday School class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

" I specifically work with the Junior High boys. I love their energy and the fact they are still very open to the Gospel. They have great hearts and the influence I can have on them, if I just show a little bit of interest in their lives, is tremendous. I love watching them grow spiritually and physically. I enjoy the challenge of trying to meet them where they are at and show them that the Gospel is-or should be- the most important part of their life."

Jim Hess

Jim is married to Sally Hess, they have four children, Janet (29), Lorrie (27), Lindsay (26), and Jimmy (19), and four grandchildren; Corbin (4), Noah (3), Silas (2), Cadden (9 months) Hanna (ToBeBorn). He has been on the Youth Team for twelve years and works with the Senior High. He co-leads the Twelfth Grade class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I want to discipline teens in knowing: Who am I?,, What is my purpose,?, and What does it mean to truly love Jesus? I also want teens to come to truly know Christ versus knowing about Christ. "

Anne Krauss

Anne is married to Bob Krauss, and they have three children, Stephanie (21), Dan (20), and Julia (12). She has been on the Youth Team for nine years and works with the Senior High. She is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I love working with teens. I feel that God has given me the ability to understand and relate to teens—especially the senior high age.” "

Dan Rayl

Dan is married to Kim Rayl, and they have two girls, Emily (7) and Elizabeth (5). He has been on the Youth Team for ten years and works with the Junior High. He co-leads the JH Boys Sunday School class, and is also involved with monthly activities and special events.

"I like spending time with the Junior High boys; their energy level is contagious! I want to help them see that serving Jesus is and will the best part of their lives. "

Kim Rayl

Kim is married to Dan Rayl, and they have two girls, Emily (7) and Elizabeth (5). She has been on the Youth Team for sixteen years and works with the Junior High. She co-leads the JH Girls Sunday School class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

" My heart’s desire is to help teens know Jesus and to inspire a desire for them to love and serve Him. Teens face many challenges, and I want to be a lighthouse to help them navigate through their teenage years. I also feel I can relate to those teens walking through a divorce family situation, since that was my experience."

Stephanie Scott

Stephanie is married to Ronnie Scott. They have seven children: Tori (15), Jasmine (14), Summer (13), Brendan (11), Katelynn (5), Morgan (3), and Jaden (1). Stephanie recently joined the Youth Team at the beginning of this year and mainly works with the Senior High. She is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I felt called to teen ministries for a while before I did anything about it. I know what a profound effect my experience in the youth group during my formative years had on me and my faith. I want the kids to have someone and somewhere to go where they feel completely safe and accepted. "

Melinda Shimrock

Melinda is married to Tom Shimrock, and they have five children, Tommie (22), Jenny (21), Michelle (17), Rachel (14), and Tara (11). She has been on the Youth Team for ten years and works with the Senior High. She co-leads the Ninth Grade Sunday School class, and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I work with teens because I love them! I became a Christian in 8th grade and remember the challenges I faced. My heart is to love them where they are at. I want to let them know they are special and there is a purpose for their lives. I want them to know they can talk about anything with me. I want them to feel cared for and loved. God loves them now and forever! I have a passion for them that they can make their faith their own. "

Doug Statzer

Doug is married to Kiersten Statzer, and he has been on the Youth Team for thirteen years. He works with the Senior High, and is involved in Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"When I started Youth Ministry, I realized God wanted to use me in ministry; however, I didn’t have anything to offer to the Youth Ministry. God helped me see that it wasn’t my abilities or lack of abilities that He was interested in. It was my availability to say ‘Yes’ to Him. He has given me a passion to walk along side the teens, to help them find a relationship with Jesus, encourage them to grow in their relationship with Christ, and experience the deep-rooted joy of serving Him!"

Kiersten Statzer

Kiersten Statzer is married to Doug Statzer, and she has been on the Youth Team for two years. She works with the Junior High and is involved with Elevate Live, monthly activities and special events.

"I love to see teens and young adults on fire for the Lord. I appreciate being a part of introducing them to that love relationship. "

Caroline Suba

Caroline is married to Greg Suba, and they have four children, Steve (25), Jessica (14), John (12), and Joey (9). She has been on the Youth Team for eighteen years and works with the Senior High. She co-leads the 11th Grade Sunday School class and is involved with special events.

"I have always felt that I needed to work with teens because I want to be the kind of youth leader that I didn’t have growing up. I was raised in a divorced family, so at times, I felt like I was raising myself. My desire is to be available and help teens learn that Jesus loves them, cares about their life, and wants to have a personal relationship with them. "
