To the Future

But I am trusting you, O Lord, saying, “You are my God!” My future is in your hands.

Psalm 31:14-15

The Why...

The Future is at stake! (Next Generation)

Families have been under siege since the beginning of time. When God declared in Genesis 3 that the serpent would bruise the heel of woman’s offspring of the woman but that her offspring would crush the serpent’s head, God invoked a declaration of war. From that point to this one, it has been the Enemy’s hellish strategy to undermine families. There is a bullseye on the back of every home, and the church must reorient itself to protect and to develop families.

According to the Barna Research Group, nearly half of the people who ever accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior will do so by the age of 12. Now less than 13% of people receive Jesus Christ after the age of 21. And by the time the child is nine years of age, their basic moral foundations are already formed. By the age of 13, most of us have already formed a majority of our beliefs about the nature of God, the existence of Satan, the reliability of the Bible, what the after life really is, and whether one can be saved from sin, and most important can the Holy Spirit actually affect our lives? In essence, your moral compass is set. What you believe at the age of 13 is mostly likely what you will believe for the rest of your life.

This research helps understand that in order to reach and disciple all generations we must reinvent and reinvest in how we facilitate ministry to our kids, students and young adults.

The Future matters to everyone (Missions)

People matter to God more than anything else. The center of the Good News is the fact that God loves people – all people, everywhere. Currently only half the known world is exposed to the good news of God’s love. For this reason and for THE Future, Friends church sends and supports missionaries all over the world to proclaim God’s love as exemplified in Christ.

This is God’s ultimate plan for our life—to make a difference in the lives of others. When we do, the bible tells us we will experience joy. Through serving and “loving our neighbors as much as we love ourselves,” we hope to connect every person to an opportunity to live out their calling by using their gifts and talents to build a better future for everyone, everywhere.

Questions and Answers:

What is To The Future?
To the Future is a church-wide, faith-driven, concerted effort to raise funds for our Next Generation and missions spending.

When will missions initiatives and construction begin?
Funds to support our missions will go to continue our current obligations, any new commitments will begin January 2022. Funding for our facility enhancements will begin as soon as funds come in.

Are we going deeper into debt?
No money will be borrowed. We will not be taking on any additional debt.

What are our objectives?
We are proceeding based on the following priorities:
– Facility enhancements for our Next Generation ministries. (Kids, Students & Young Adults)
– Fulfilling our current mission commitments
– Increasing our mission partnerships.

How long do I have to fulfill my commitment?
This campaign will run 12 months. You may give weekly, monthly, or a one-time gift.

Will anyone contact me regarding giving?
No! We are asking you to make a “Faith Commitment” – that is, an indication of what finances you believe God will provide through you. Your giving is a covenant between you and God and is based only on His leading. No one will call on you and you will not be under any legal obligation to fulfill your faith commitment. It is important to remember that this is not so much an issue about raising money or buildings as it is about our hearing God’s voice, stepping out in faith, and watching as He provides and uses each of us to fulfill His calling on this church!
